Patients finance the health care industry and support its very existence as consumers, but nonmedical consumers are seldom heard from at the policy-making table. I set out to demystify the often complex and confusing world of health care as seen by many patients.
My background as a medical writer taught me how a drug goes from molecule to market, a medical device from drawing to development, and words from keyboard to bookshelf and beyond.
As a public speaker, I've had to cut the medical jargon and speak plain English.
As a consumer of health services, I've taken a great interest in our nation's health care system and what is expected to happen under the Affordable Care Act. I have a master's degree in health care administration and did graduate level research into the Dutch and American health care systems while living in The Netherlands.
I have some thoughts to share and will post them here along with other items that pique my curiousity.
Thank you for visiting!
